Seasonal event trends change quickly from month to month. As a New York event planner, it’s important to keep up with the trends as they change and develop, as well as to be able to communicate with your clients to enhance their event visions beyond their imagination. These fall color combinations and event designs are all the buzz and are sure to be transformative in your event production.
1. Domestic Bliss
There’s a big trend happening centered around spaces looking “lived-in,” domestic, and cozy. Less formality, even in a formal space, takes some intentional decor and, occasionally, brings in some alternative, comfy seating like couches and lounge chairs. Look to enjoy the best of “comfortable” this fall with your events, without compromising the luxury of upscale amenities.
2. Bringing the Indoors, Outdoors
As a development of the cozy “backyard-ish” trend, a deeper dive leads us to the trend of bringing indoor seating outdoors. Plush lounge areas demarcated by whole area rugs, plush couches, and lounge chairs create a cozy atmosphere to socialize and relax between bouts of mingling. Drapes, uplighting, and other details like end tables can all add to the overall aesthetic as well.
3. Mossy Greens
Greens, especially deep greens and pastel earth tones, are trending off the charts. Think muted 1970s, and you’re on the right track. A lot of this trend’s inspiration is taken from Burberry’s February fashion release. It’s not just green that’s the main focus here, but biophilic designs. Bringing design elements back to nature is the new thing this fall, even with the more tech-based events.
4. Warm Lighting
Warmer-style lighting creates a more intimate feel and coincides with the warmer, earthy colors popping up on the scene. Fluorescent overhead lighting won’t be the best bet for any event in the near future. Try adding some underlighting, even table lamps on the warmer side of the spectrum, to add that bit of moody campfire essence to the next event your clients have.
5. Natural Tones and Merlot Accents
A blend of natural wood tones with bold autumn hues is trending for this fall. Rich reds, greens, and even blues can be incorporated for that woodsy, grounded, salt-of-the-earth-type design theme. These palettes are complemented well by the already-trending warm lighting and biophilic touches.
